Before travel

We recommend:

✅ Renting a 4x4 during the rainy season if you plan to explore more remote beaches or backroads. The higher the vehicle's ground clearance, the better. Our personal recommendation: a Suzuki Jimny for two people.
✅ Downloading Google Maps for offline use before arriving on the Nicoya Peninsula. Waze is widely used in Costa Rica.
✅ Bringing some Costa Rican colones to spend at small local shops. There are ATMs at the airports.
✅ Packing light clothing, walking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle.
